I believe in Karma

Tired and weary from a 3 hour drive, I stopped at Garcia's, a Mexican restaurant in Flagstaff, AZ to have dinner. It was late and by east coast time, it was nearly midnight. Dinner was good but I was hardly able to eat because I just wanted to go to bed. I walk out to my rental car and from across the parking lot, I see my car trunk is open halfway. My hard started pounding. Inside the car had been my work laptop, my camera, my suitcase...everything. And... it was all still there. Amazingly. Not only had I somehow left my trunk up, I didn't even lock the door and my digital camera was still sitting on the passenger seat. Immediately, I thanked the Universe. Seriously, it was a miracle.

Still in shock, I drive across the street to my hotel, a Fairfield Inn. The parking lot has warning signs about securing valuables and how they're not responsible...yada yada yada.

I walked into the lobby, and still in shock, I shared my story with the desk clerks. One immediately said, "In Flagstaff? You must have really good Karma."

I smiled. "I do." I said.

I have been trying really hard to be other-centered lately. Big tipper, letter writer, hospice volunteer... I guess the universe noticed.

Mirror Coincidence: A modest proposal

My husband and I had a conversation about satire. At the time of the conversation, I recalled something I had to read in high school English class many years ago that was satire 'about children'. I couldn't remember the title or the author.
Later that day I was on a flight and the airline magazine had an article about hoaxes and had a paragraph about Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal. I was quite shocked, as that was the story I was trying to recall.

Directional Synchronicity: Delayed for a reason Part II

I'm beginning to think that all this traveling I've been doing has been stirring things up in the universe. For the second time in six months, a flight delay has led to a very interesting conversation with (coincidentally) men named Thomas. THIS time, I had two flights that were cancelled and it happened to be my seat mate on my third flight. I'm not sure how the subject came up, but he started talking about Trancendental Meditation. I find this quite odd, because while on the internet it's easy to find like-minded people...it's not so easy in real life. To end up sitting next to someone who has such similar interests...well it's quite a synchronicity. I feel that I was meant to hear what Thomas had to say about TM. I've known for some time that I need to start meditating...to relieve the stress if nothing else... and this was the universe's way of nudging me along.

In case you're curious, my first encounter with another Thomas was here: http://followthesigns.blogspot.com/2006/10/directional-synchronicity-delayed-for.html
The fact that both men were named Thomas...well that's just the icing on the cake...

Coincidence: Ooops!

This happened a week ago but I've not had the chance to blog. Twice in a three day time period, I walked in on someone in the bathroom. One time was at a party and one time at a restaurant. Don't men ever lock the doors? Then not 2 days later, a friend told me that someone had walked in on her. Weird, weird, weird.

Finding like-minded people

Library thing at http://www.librarything.com/ is my new favorite website. You can enter in the books that you read and find others with similar interests. You can also get recommendations for books you probably haven't read. There's so much more to it - if you like to read, check it out. (no pun intended)
