Mirror Synchronicity: Worst Ways to Die

Those who don't believe in synchronicities will surely scoff at this one.  I have a history of being led to  books.  I have written about synchronicities more than once, here, here, and also a synchronicity story I wrote about in my book that I never posted.

I felt directed to Half Price Books, although I wasn't sure why.  There was no book I had in mind except for maybe something related to the Death Cafe.

I was just about to leave the store, figuring my hunch was wrong, when I turned around and found three copies of this book for only $3 each.

The reason I found it to be synchronous is because the Death Cafe was on my mind.  The art images that we printed on t-shirts to raise money for the Death Cafe event were all based on ideas of our worst fear of dying.  (Mine is crocodile, what's yours?)  Here are the images that we are putting on t-shirts:

I had never heard of this book before, but I thought they would be good to have on tables at the event as conversation starters.

Mirror Synchronicity: Final Gifts

I was browsing the clearance section of Half Price Books (my favorite store) and I was ruminating about a book that I had loaned to someone that they never gave back. We no longer work together and it's not likely to be someone I will run into.

For most books, I loan the book with the idea that I might never see them again, which is fine. But this book, Final Gifts, was different. I only loaned it because I had full confidence that I would get it back. A year later, it turns out that I was wrong. It is non-fiction and I consider it to be the bible of books about hospice. Every presentation I give about hospice includes a mention of the book. It is a book that I always want to have on my shelf, and a book I would buy for others who are going through hospice for the first time (aside from my own).

I made a little wish that I might find it in the clearance section someday... but I never expected it to happen because it is still a best-selling book and I have never seen it on clearance. Sure enough, about a minute later, I looked up at the next shelf and I found a like-new copy for $2.00. Around the corner, I found in the regular death and dying section a used copy that was still $7.00. I bought it and thanked the universe for my gift.

Required Reading: Calls to the Mystic Alice

I am a compulsive book buyer.  I now probably own over 50 metaphysical books.  Just this week, I bought 10 books in one trip to Half Price Books. Unfortunately, I often buy more books before I have read the ones that I have. Fortunately, I finally set out to read a book I purchased last year: Calls to the Mystic Alice by a psychic named Alice Rose Morgan.  It was a great read and in fact, I finished the whole book in two days, which is a rarity for me.  Alice talks about what she has learned over the years from her spirit guides (she calls them 'spooks' but I don't like that term). She talks about energy and Karma and reincarnation and 'working it out' on the Astral plane. If you're into all of that stuff, I would recommend that you find a copy of this book. 

p.s. if anyone has suggestions for curing my acquisition problem...I'm listening
