Mirror Synchronicity: A lucky day in Columbus

For those of you who may not follow football, 'The Game of the century!' - Ohio State vs Michigan (#1 versus #2 matchup) was last Saturday. It was considered to be the most hyped football game of all time. The final score was Ohio State 42, Michigan 39. They normally list scores by the home team first... 42-39. Shortly after the game ended, the local pick 4 lottery for Ohio drew the numbers for Saturday, November 18. Yes. The numbers were 4239 in that order. The universe reflected the intensity in Columbus. Here's a news article about the lottery: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/4347352.html.

I love it when synchronicites make national news (makes my job easier).

Psychic protection and the Little Me

Lately I've been spending a lot of time with someone who is sending me negative thoughts on an ongoing basis. I've let my guard down and now need some psychic protection. What I'm challenged by is that his influence is so strong, I am afraid he's winning.

As I may have mentioned in a previous post, my parents were 'new age' - The Great Me and The Little Me was one of the books that taught me the foundation of all that is Good.

I KNOW I should surround him in white light to dissipate the negative energy, but The Little Me wants to punch him.

I could use some help...advice... anything!

No Small Meetings

Here is an inspiring story that I happened upon about how every contact with every other human is important, no matter how small it seems to be. I really liked the article.

The synchronicity hasn't happened yet, but hopefully you will read this and take it to heart. I did.

Directional Synchronicity: delayed for a reason

Two postings ago I said the universe had forgotten me, and sure enough, ask and you shall receive. In my last post, I mentioned a synchronicity that happened on my way to Philadelphia and then I had another one at the airport on the way home. It's odd that both happened in airports.

I was in Philly for a training class and after the class I ran into some fellow classmates at the airport. We had dinner and then went our separate ways to catch our flights. When I got to my gate, I found out my flight was delayed. As I was turning back to go walk around the shops, at the gate next to mine, I ran into another classmate, Thomas, whose flight was also delayed.

Though we didn't know each other too well at that point, we started making small talk about our class and work. Then he happened to mention that he couldn't get a hold of his wife because she was in a meditation class that evening. I was intrigued and asked if he was "into all that stuff..."
(I never reveal my own interests in the metaphysical until I know where the other person stands, just to be safe...)

As it turned out, Thomas and his wife are both very into metaphysical studies, and even more advanced that I am. We had the most amazing discussion about spirituality for the hour that our flights were delayed. He inspired me to get back to my studies. His wife even wrote me afterwards and recommended her spiritual group's website. The website itself is being revamped, but there is a great forum with hundreds of postings about channeling, light workers, ascension: http://www.towardsascension.com/forum.htm

I have NO DOUBT in my mind that our delayed flights were intentionally another nod from the universe.

Directional synchronicity: Seat #5

Funny, after I posted that I had a dry spell, I had two synchronization within a week... I just haven't gotten around to posting them. They are related, so I'll put them together in this blog.

I was at the airport getting ready to get on a plane to Philadelphia. My ticket was for row 5. In line behind me, I overheard a woman say to her husband, 'we just need to find someone in row 5 that will be willing to switch with you." Now, if I were nice, I would've turned around right there and volunteered. However, I didn't know where they were sitting, and because I'm a little particular on where I sit, (nobody likes a middle seat), I didn't say anything. Well, when I handed my ticket to the flight attendant, she said out loud, 'you're in row 5'. The woman behind me overheard and asked me if I would switch with her husband. (Busted!) As it turned out, he had an aisle seat only three rows back, so I said ok.

Then the funniest thing happened. While I was sitting in my seat in row 8, I overheard a conversation between two men in row 7. I would not have heard them if I had been seated in my original seat. They talked about synchronization for a good 15 minutes. It sounded like they had some good stories as well, but I couldn't hear everything only bits and pieces.

Yes, universe. I asked and you answered. thank you.

Dry spell

The universe seems to have forgotten about me. I haven't had any synchronicities in quite a while. I'll post some when I have some.

Mirror Coincidence: Hyde and Hare

I've read and noticed personally that synchronicities seem to happen more during times of change or emotional distress. I've had nothing to say for weeks and now the synchronicities just keep popping up. The book I am reading and recommended earlier today, Meeting the Shadow, has multiple references to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Tonight, I went to the local theater to see the Wizard of Oz on the big screen. Prior to the movie there was one Bugs Bunny cartoon, "Hyde and Hare," which is, of course, about Bugs Bunny's encounter with a Dr. Jekyll who turns into a green monster.

Weird, weird, weird.

Required Reading: Meeting The Shadow

I love to read. The more I read, though, the more disappointed I am. I will pick up these books with great concepts and then feel empty as if the author didn't fulfill the promise.

On the other hand, sometimes I come across a book that resonates so deeply with me that I'm in awe. I'm in awe that I found the book, and I'm in awe that the book has the power to enlighten me to a new way of thinking.

This is one of those books. It is 15 years old, but I just found it in a used bookstore. The full title is, "Meeting the shadow: The hidden power of the dark side of human nature" It's an anthology of stories about 'the shadow' or unconscience.

Carl Jung is heavily referenced in this book as is Robert Louis Stevenson.

Carl Jung once said, "I would rather be whole than good." As someone who is constantly striving to 'Be good', I did not understand that concept. Fortunately, an editor of this collection (Connie Zweig) has a metaphysical p.o.v. and she said the same thing, but explained why.

Connie says, "My mother pointed out some twenty years ago, in the height of my spiritual grandiosity, that I was good at loving humanity but not so good at loving individual human beings. With the gradual acceptance of the darker impulses within me, I feel a more genuine compassion growing in my soul."

I am only on page 35 of 305 pages, but here's what has resonated with me:

When you're a child, your self is whole - good and bad. As you're growing up, parents are correcting you, friends are shaping you, and you learn what behavior and feelings are not acceptable and you move them into your unconscience.

You deny the 'unacceptable feelings'.

As an adult, the people who irritate you the most are the people who have the traits that you yourself have but that you've denied. You recognize it in others but not in yourself.

On a personal note my BIGGEST pet peeve is highly critical people. They can't just say 'good job' - they always have to note how you could've been better. When I started reading this book, it was like the light went off and I realize that I am the same way- I just haven't noticed it in myself. I think to myself that I'm just being 'helpful'... This book helped me realize my own shadows. I can now understand why I react so harshly to criticism and I am more aware of when I'm being unnecessarily critical of others.

The danger of not being aware of your shadow is that eventually it will catch up with you... you have to know it's there to restrain it...

of course the essays in this book are much more poetic about it... If you click on the link above, you can read an excerpt.

Indigo and Crystal Children

Last night I was watching television and came across a show about psychic children. I had heard of the term "Indigo children" before, so I was intrigued. My husband, quite the skeptic, was not convinced of any of it & I think the show could have done a better job with the examples. For example, a child who was sick the day before 9/11... coincidence? They claimed it was a psychic prediction, but they really didn't have anything more to say except that she was sick.

Incidentally, the main character of one of the stories had my name and her mother's name was the name of my mother...that was a little wake up for me.

But I digress... I enjoy reading about Indigo children and Crystal children - which are even more powerful... but a lot of websites out there are full of advertisements for someone's book or paid psychic reading. I understand these people have to make a living, but I also find it distasteful for psychics to profit off of their gift.

So I'm looking for a good recommendation of information about Indigo children - I did find one website that I liked, but I want to read more...Please don't recommend any books or websites that you have not read yourself. I can google with the best of them, but I'm looking for the 'best' that you've found. Here's a website I liked: http://www.metagifted.org/

Required Reading: Ramesh Kamath

This is a great article about freedom of choice by Ramesh Kamath. (Scroll to the bottom of the page). I love all of the other articles out there as well.

"Successful people never rely on luck or chance; they create the circumstances that bring them what they desire. What may seem like failures in their lives are understood by them as steps towards a positive end. In correcting the destructive thoughts you create with accepting luck, chance and disempowerment, are these two good words to know and understand, and they are "synchronicity," and "synergy!"

All I have to say is wow. I needed that.

Mirror Coincidence: The cab driver recommends...

A friend of mine was in a cab in Cincinnati with some other friends. They asked the cabdriver for a recommendation of a good bar to go to that was in the neighborhood. The cabbie suggested either 'McFadden's' or "Tina's Around the Corner". Strangely enough, my friend's name is Tina McFadden. I heard her tell the story today and she wasn't that impressed with the synchronicity... but I was!

Haunting: The Patio Just So

My friend LJ is a nice Catholic girl who doesn't believe in ghosts. Well, she didn't until this week. Now she's not so sure. Two days ago, she was at a friend's house grilling out on the back patio. As she described the scene to me, she said the patio consisted of a metal table and chairs, a grill and a patio canopy that was ruined in a recent storm. She said the canopy was in a heap because it was heavy and her friend had not gotten around to moving it.

They went inside to eat and were at the front of the house for about an hour. LJ's friend went back outside and then came in, confused. LJ went back outside with him and ALL of the furniture had been rearranged, including the grill, which was moved to the opposite side of the patio and the canopy, which was pulled off of the patio into the grass. LJ's friend doesn't believe in ghosts and assumed it must be a prank and promptly called everyone he knew that might play such a joke (but why?). The friend had bought the house from a friend six months prior, and found out that, 'Oh yeah - I didn't tell you - I think the house is haunted.' The previous owner of the house had an incident with a missing wallet that suddenly appeared in the middle of the kitchen floor AND the wife had heard voices.

Not that I've had any luck with attempted ghost encounters before, but I told LJ that I want to visit this house. I'll let you know what happens.

Mirror Coincidence: Cape Cod

This is one of those silly little coincidences, but in totality - it's weird when you add them up. My husband and I were on a long car ride today and he was listening to a book on CD - (Bill Bryson's - I'm a Stranger Here Myself) and I was reading a magazine and I read the word Cape Cod within two seconds of when Bill said "Cape Cod."

Reiki for Beginners

So sorry if you came to my page wanting to learn about Reiki. I'm just learning about it myself. I picked up Reiki for Beginners in Arizona last year. Last night I read several chapters and I found it to be interesting but a little intimidating. It's not something you can learn overnight. Yes - I'm trying to heal myself to avoid a most unpleasant outpatient surgery next week. Will it work? It hasn't so far, but I'm optimistic.
You don't have to buy a book to learn more about Reiki - I just now did a Google search and was pleased to find that the Reiki.org website has a lot of great information. According to that website, Reiki is, "a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing."
This isn't just some random thing I read about on the web in my search for the spiritual. I was at a psychic fair a couple of years ago and had a most wonderful Reiki healing session with a kindly older woman named Alice. Though she's not psychic, she could tell where I "hurt" emotionally and concentrated on healing my heart. Though it was cool in the convetion area, her hands were quite warm and I could feel the energy. This is as close to a supernatural experience as I have ever had. Has anyone else out there had an experience with a Reiki healing?

Mirror Coincidence: Happy Birthday

I was getting ready to go to a birthday party and I was writing the words "Happy Birthday" when the Beatles song "Birthday" came on the radio.

Nothing to report

Well either I've had no coincidences in the past 3 months or I've just been blind to them. Sometimes that happens. Also, if you don't record them, they're easy to forget. I'm going to pay attention now, I promise. In the meantime - anyone out there have stories to tell?

Mirror Coincidence: The best bathroom in the world

I was in Dallas on business and lo and behold my little suburb made national news for having a restaurant with a restroom that won some national bathroom award. I heard it on CNN, the local Dallas news and also read it in USA Today. This is not news, but it was kind of cool.

Mirror Coincidence: Call me the grammar queen

About an hour apart, two people asked me the difference between affect and effect. Ok, so a lot of people don't know the difference, but I haven't been asked that question in months. So how do I explain it? Affect causes the effect. That doesn't always work, but mostly it does. I usually have to ask them to tell me the context.

Nadi Astrology

So I've admitted that I'm not an expert on the new age... I made the mistake of asking an Indian co-worker whether chakras were connected to the Hindu religion and he said they were not. But then he started telling me about the Indian practice of Nadi astrology and I found it to be quite interesting. In India, a friend of his took him to a Nadi Astrologer and the man asked a few yes or no questions and then opened up this big ancient book and read from it. My friend said that it had his parents name, his wife's name, his children's names, his profession and then what was going to happen to him in the future. And it was all written down! So I've been doing some googling and there are a lot of websites out there and some want you to give a credit card number (bad idea, right). Some day, if I ever go to India, I will get a reading. I wonder if there are any Nadi practitioners in the U.S that don't charge an arm and a leg. I think it would be interesting just to see what they say. Also - I would like to read more about it, but google searches don't always turn up the best, so I'd love to hear from anyone who has found a 'favorite' website.

Synchronicity: Post Secret

In one week, two of my friend separately told me about Post Secret , a "cool website" that they found. I've known about it and have had it bookmarked here for months.

I guess my "secret" is I don't tell my friends about my blog because I don't think they would be interested.

Synchronicity: North Dakota

North Dakota is a random state that you don't usually hear mentioned very often. Two people brought up North Dakota to me in two separate conversations last week. First, a co-worker who has been to 44 states in the country said, "Just because I've never been to North Dakota, that doesn't mean I want to go there."

Then I was at a conference with Dave Barry as a guest speaker and he spoke for several minutes about North Dakota. There's a long history with him and that state.

Small World: The odd exchange student

My friend Dave was as an exchange student in Norway and the host family told him that the previous guy who lived with them was really strange. We'll call the strange one 'Bill'.

Two or three years later, Dave was at a party in Wisconsin and saw a guy wearing a Norweigan jacket. Dave approached the guy who was quite proud of his time spent in Norway and after a few minutes Dave found out it was the same guy.

Random Poem Generator

So I'm lame and I was having trouble submitting something to a mother-in-law's birthday scrapbook and I googled 'poem generator' and came across this website that can generate a poem from any website. Boundless possibilities. Synchronistic, maybe not, but still cool.

http://cmdrtaco.net/poemgen.cgi

The poem I generated:

Follow the
first place, I
brought it off, the
Wizard of text that I was in it all,
what would that means we
were to keep a a:
day. I was the couch
I believe that I heard his as you think

and not sure how

Mirror Coincidence: Lucky Day

I left my car at work one night and got a ride home with a friend. The next day, when I returned home after work, I found a huge miter saw?! in my parking space. It had been hanging on the wall in my garage and apparently had fallen off the hook. Had my car been there, it would've caused some serious damage to the hood. Luck and coincidence, I'm grateful.

Mirror Coincidences: The Wicked Witch

Sometimes I am flooded with symbols, though I haven't yet mastered the art of interpretation. This past week I had dinner with a friend who I hadn't seen over the holidays and she gave me the book Wicked, which I already had, but I appreciated nonetheless. Wicked, for those of you who don't know, is a 'backstory' to the Wizard of Oz about the life of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Then today I was websurfing and landed on Meritt's blog talking about her latest Mantra, which of course involved our favorite witch.

Thirdly, tonight at Toastmasters, a guy referred to his ex-wife as (you guessed it) "The Wicked Witch of the West". Or is it East? Anyways three references in one week definitely warrant blogging. So if I were to find meaning in it all, what would that be? Beware of green people?

The Chakra Necklace

So on my trip to Sedona, I came across a cool crystal store in uptown (they don't have a website unfortunately). I bought a chakra necklace that I love. It looks kind of like this one. I wore it almost every day and then I lost it. I was devistated. I turned my house upside down looking for it, because I knew I took it off while I was at home. I went online to try to find one like it because even though I had only just lost it, I felt such a sense of loss that I was actually going to go online and buy a new one. Then a couple of days ago I was sitting on the couch watching t.v. when I suddenly knew that it was in the couch. I reached between the cushions and found crumbs and some coins but no necklace. I still felt strongly that it was there, and I got off the couch and lifted the cushion and sure enough there it was. Ok - obviously - since I'm the one who lost it in the first place, my subconscious probably remembered where I was when I took it off, but I love it when memory comes back to you. I was happy to have my necklace back anyways. While I was looking for the necklace online though, I did come across this cool chakra test. Maybe that was the purpose of me losing the necklace. Since I took the test and found that I have a couple of blocked chakras, I've been working to balance things. Having the necklace might help...

Places to go: Sedona

Sedona is a spiritual place. I had the opportunity to visit Sedona briefly and I have to say that I was in awe of the gorgeous red rocks. There is definitely positive energy flowing. Even if you aren't particularly spiritual, the city can be appreciated just for the blue skies and the amazing rock formations. I didn't get to visit the vortexes, unfortunately, so I will have to go back. Here's a good website about the area if you'd like to visit.

Mirror Coincidence: Funny running into you

Not sure how to categorize this, but I had a souvenir that belonged to a friend of mine whom I don't see very often. He works for the same company but in another building about 20 minutes away. I wasn't sure how to get the item to him, but I decided to take it in to work. The day I brought it to work, he stopped by the cubicle next to mine and I heard his voice. It was completely random that I brought it in on the day that he happened to come to my building, and also that he stopped by to visit my cube neighbor when I was at my desk.

Required Listening: Trust Your Vibes

I am on disk 4 of Sonia Choquette's 6 disk CD set and I would highly suggest that you go out and get a copy of Trust Your Vibes today. I came across the CD set in the library... totally random - I was looking for classical music but I just peaked at the boxed set section.

I like Sonia for many reasons:
1. She's got a nice voice
2. Her stories are interesting and appropriately illustrate the points she is trying to make.
3. She's laugh out loud funny and puts me in a good mood.
4. As a five-sensory person who desperately wants to be six-sensory, she makes me feel like it's possible and not just a gift that she has.
5. I've actually noticed a difference in my own energy since I started listening to the CD.

There is also a book, but I think it's quite helpful and pleasant to listen to Sonia. She makes me drive to work so much more relaxing. I'm already concerned that I've only got two CDs left to listen to, I don't want to go back to the radio.

If you do read this and end up listening to her CD, I'd love to hear what you think.

Mirror Synchronicity: Green Suede Jacket

My friend Teri and I were visiting a friend who has been not feeling well for a couple of weeks. When Teri arrived at our friends house, she brought in a package that was sitting on the doorstep. It was a green suede jacket from our friend's sister. Several hours later, when we were getting ready to leave, Teri picked a book off the bookshelf called 14,000 things to be happy about. Teri randomly opened the book and said 'Oh My God'. Sure enough, she showed us right where she had opened it and it said 'green suede jacket'. I am not kidding. We all thought it was weird.
